Family Laqueidae Thomson, 1927
The teeth are supported with teeth-plates or have thickened bases. Inner hinge-plates form hinge-furrow together with middle septum. Descending and ascending branches of brachial skeleton join each other with ribbons during all life of a specimen.
The family includes 8 genera known in the recent fauna of the World Ocean: Laqueus, Frenulina, Aldingia, Jolonica, Pictothyris, Compsoria, Ecnomiosia, Shimodaia. In the northern part of the Sea of Japan only one genus and species Laqueus vancouveriensis is found.
